The stellar ‘Snake’ – I. Whole structure and properties

To complement our previous discovery of the young snake-like structure in solar neighborhood and reveal structure's full extent, we build two samples stars within Snake its surrounding territory from {\tt Gaia EDR3}. With friends-of-friends algorithm, identify 2694 9615 member candidates samples. Thirteen open clusters are embedded these candidates. By combining spectroscopic data multiple surveys, investigate comprehensive properties find that they \thj{are very likely to} belong to one sizable structure, since most components well bridged their spatial distributions, follow a single stellar population with an age $30-40$\,Myr metallicity. This is best explained as hierarchically primordial, probably formed filamentary giant molecular cloud unique formation history localized regions. analyze dynamics Snake, divide into five groups according tangential velocities; expanding at coherent rate ($\kappa_X\sim3.0\,\times10^{-2}\,\rm km\,s^{-1}\,pc^{-1}$) along length ($X$-direction). \thj{The corresponding expansion ($\tau\sim33$\,Myr) highly consistent Snake}. over ten thousand stars, ideal laboratory study nearby coeval formation, physics, environmental evolution large extent.
